Dear Members,
It is with great honor that I accept the position of president of the West Oregon Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. I appreciate the mentoring I received from previous President James Buxton and General Manager Billi Kohler.
Working with the co-op for the past few years, I am impressed by the professionalism and knowledge of the management team and their dedication to safety, service, customer care, and excellence in all aspects of the organization.
Fall is upon us. Now is the time to check heaters, fireplaces, holiday decorations, and outside lighting. Our co-op staff can suggest ways to lower your electric bill and make your home more energy efficient. You probably shut off lights when you leave a room, but do you unplug small appliances when you leave on a trip? Our staff can also answer questions about billing and suggest how to protect the lines around your home by managing vegetation and trimming trees.
Your district board members are also valuable resources. The board members and management team represent your interests at the state, regional, and national levels. We participate in the legislature day in the spring and bring the mission of electric co-ops to our representatives and senators in Salem. We talk with our congressional representatives and senators concerning their votes on issues that affect Oregon, such as wildfire mitigation. Our voting members at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association represent our interests nationwide.
As WOEC members, your board members work diligently to keep electricity reliable, safe, and cost-effective. To the rest of the board of directors, thank you for the trust and opportunity to serve you and the co-op. Together, we can continue to build on our successes and provide sufficient future power resources for our members.
Thank you,
Patricia Jordan
Board of Directors President, District 1
