Dear Members,
Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025, we’re excited to continue serving you with safe and reliable electric service. I am writing to share some important updates regarding your electric rates for 2025.
After careful review, the West Oregon Electric Cooperative Board of Directors has decided there will be no general rate increase for the upcoming year. However, there will be a specific adjustment to the Block 2 residential rate, which impacts energy usage beyond 1,500 kWh per month.
What’s Changing?
The current Block 2 rate, a declining rate for usage over 1,500 kWh, will increase by 2¢ per kWh starting April 1, 2025. This adjustment represents a 1.5% increase in overall residential revenues and ensures fairness and sustainability in our rate structure.
Who Will This Impact?
- Approximately 811 residential accounts on average will see an impact.
- The number of affected members will be higher during the winter months when energy consumption typically increases and lower during the summer months.
- Members who consistently consume less than 1,500 kWh in a billing cycle will not be affected.
Why Is This Change Necessary?
This adjustment aligns with our commitment to maintaining a financially stable cooperative while ensuring equitable cost distribution. By targeting higher levels of energy consumption, we can balance the needs of our members with the costs of providing reliable service.
Rate Information Meeting
To provide additional details and answer your questions, we will hold a Rate Information Meeting before the adjustment takes effect. Please watch for a notice with meeting details arriving in your mail soon.
Commitment to Transparency
We remain committed to keeping you informed about any changes that may affect your electric service. If you have questions about this adjustment or would like tips to help manage your energy usage, please contact us at (503) 429-3021 or visit our website.
