About Us

West Oregon Electric Cooperative (WOEC) is owned by the members we serve and is committed to providing reliable electricity at the lowest price possible for the territory we serve. West Oregon Electric is a “not for profit” cooperative, and provides electricity to areas that other companies would not serve due to the rough terrain and large areas with small population.

Electric Cooperatives were created by determined customers who needed power in rural areas.  With the help of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who established the Rural Electrification Administration (REA) in 1935, friends and neighbors banded together to create a new kind of electric utility, where the voice of every person made a difference.  These electric cooperatives that were formed brought electric power to the countryside when no one else would.  That is how WOEC was formed in 1944 to start providing electricity to areas that had been without power.

WOEC is a member of National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA), Oregon Rural Electric Cooperative Association (ORECA), and is Touchstone Energy® Cooperative.
